WEEKEND TRAIL RIDES
If you are looking for something the whole family can enjoy come to Camp Crucis and take a horseback ride through our 140 acres of wooded trails. After your ride stay, rest, and relax at camp, hike, fish, or just sit and enjoy the sounds of nature. The cost is only $15 per person for a whole day of fun in God's garden. May 10 Clean-up Day - Good Shepherd Granbury's Brotherhood of Saint Andrew men’s group is hosting a clean up day for Camp Crucis. If you are interested in helping please contact Kitty at 817-573-3343 for more information. All ages and genders are welcome to come and help on Saturday the 10th at 9 am; however, children and youth must have proper adult supervision. As usual we have trails to blaze, grass to mow, fences to mend, and weeds to pull. Grab your shovel, hoe, rake, pruning shears, or machete and meet us for the spring cleaning. We will begin with Morning Prayer in St. John’s Chapel. After worship, work assignments will be handed out. At noon we will serve lunch. We’ll finish up around 4 p.m., then open the pool (weather permitting) for anyone who would like to swim. The food and fun are free, so RSVP to reserve your meal. May 10 Camp Crucis Riding Club Playday. This will be Playday number two of a series of six Playdays scheduled this year. Registration opens at 9:00am and competition begins at 10:00AM. The cost is $15 to compete in all the events. Ribbons will be given out to the top five places in each event and each riding class for the day. Points will be calculated for each event and prizes and buckles will be awarded for the highest points at the end of the series. You do not have to compete in the series to compete in this Playday. Our club competitions are open to everyone and for all ages and skill levels. Competition is according to age and skill level of the rider. Come and enjoy part of our Texas heritage in a Christian atmosphere. You do not have to own a horse to participate, however you must be enrolled in a riding class at Camp Crucis to use our horses. If you would just like to watch children and adults barrel race, bend poles, or run flags bring a lawn chair and watch for free.

May 15-17 Young Adults Camp - In 2008 Camp Crucis is starting a new camp session for our young adults. It will be similar to our regular camp sessions with Mass, theme session, swimming, sports, campfires, service projects, and square dancing. Anyone between the ages of 19 and 23 are welcome to come and enjoy time with their camp friends, counselors, and clergy. If you are thinking about becoming a volunteer this is a perfect opportunity to experience summer camp stay over for one more night and attend the adult Cabin Counselor training on the 18th. The summer camp session will start at 9:00am on Thursday and end at 5:00pm on Saturday. The cost will be $90. Those attending the camp session can attend the training for free. May 18 Adult Volunteer Cabin Counselor Training – Volunteers who are 18 years or older and would like to participate as a cabin counselor in one or more of our 2008 Summer Camp sessions may attend the one-day training on May 18. The cost is $20. Click on the Summer Camp registration abouve and sign up for the training online.

May 22!!!
Summer Mission Camp 2008 registration deadline is May 22! Missions I and II will serve the Granbury area visiting nursing homes and helping with other ministries such as Meals on Wheels, People Helping People, and service projects at Camp Crucis. They will have an opportunity for fun and fellowship with swimming, games, and nature walks at camp. The Jr. High Mission Camp III will be going to Brownwood, staying at St. John's Episcopal Church helping with the Food Pantry there as well as Good Samaritan Charities and the Salvation Army. They will also enjoy swimming, canoes and kayaks at Lake Brownwood. The Senior High Mission Camp IV will be going to Biloxi Mississippi assisting with the rebuilding of homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. There will be play time at the beach. Training for all the Missions will begin 6-8-08 at Camp Crucis. Information on specific training dates will go out May 23.
